ASASELLO QUARTETT / PAUL PAULUN - ANTON WEBERN - SECHS BAGATELLEN / ... EINMAL KOMPLETT ... (12")

"One hundred years after their composition Anton Webern's Six Bagatelles were recorded analogue by the Cologne based Asasello Quartett for this LP. Played by heart, this extraordinary and intense piece for string quartet, only a good 4 minutes long and sounding surprisingly contemporary, fills the A-side of a 12" LP, framed by the taped silence of the recording space. The B-side offers an audio piece by field recordist Paul Paulun from Berlin. He recorded the whole session with 8 microphones and created a piece about the work of the recording team and the accompanying sounds in the studio. This production focusses completely on the density of Webern's piece and challenges the listener to a short but complete emersion into this work." (label info)
