BENOIT AND THE MANDELBROTS - BENOIT AND THE MANDELBROTS (2LP)

"The live coding Band Benoit and the Mandelbrots comes up with a record. All music on their self-titled album was created by writing and executing SuperCollider source code in improvised recording sessions. No new musical elements were added in the subsequent editing and mixing stages. Live coding is the performing arts practice of writing and modifying algorithms live on stage in order to create generative media. The group was founded in 2009 in South-West German Karlsruhe. Since then, Juan Alzate Romero, Holger Ballweg, Patrick Borgeat and Matthias Schneiderbanger have performed numerous of national and international gigs. he Mandelbrots' music is as diverse as the venues they play: Oscillating between computer music festivals and bars, art galleries and techno clubs, their versatility allows them to play ambient or noise, conceptual avantgardistic pieces or music to dance to. This diversity is reflected on their album, out on the Karlsruhe and Cologne based label Syff, mixed by Michael Vierling and mastered by Rashad Becker. The artwork was created by Patrick Borgeat."
