VALKARE, GUNANR - VIAGGIO (CD)

This CD presents a spectrum of a bit less than a decade of creation ranging from Symphony No 1 and Funeral Music, both from 1989, to Scapes from 1987. Viaggio, the first piece on the CD and its last, Funeral Music comprise the characteristic extremes of the selections. Viaggio offers sharp contours, together with a strong pulse and an entertaining language, while the last piece paints a restrained, careful suggestion on a seemingly white-washed surface. (label info)
