"First 7" by turntablism-quintet Institut für Feinmotorik from Cologne/Freiburg, well-known for their records on Staubgold and Fusetron. Although purely done with prepared turnables, the tracks remind of the melancholic atmosphere of Gamelan music, but at the same time both "Original" and "Fälschung" ("imitation") proof that this collective still marks the most playful and elaborate end of minimal techno. The 7" comes in a stunning cover with a picture puzzle artwork, including ten "mistakes" to be found in the version on the backcover. A highly entertaining piece of art and music.
