HAMMERTH, JOHAN - STOCKHOLMS KANTAT (CD)

The large symphonic work The Stockholm Cantata had its première in June 1998 in Berwaldhallen, Stockholm. The cantata is written for choir, symphony orchestra and soloists. The work (with lyrics by the well-known Swedish poet Niklas Rådström) describes the history of a century in the life of Stockholm as well as a patchwork quilt of stories and events from todays city. In the booklet the story is clearly illustrated graphically. Together with the music of Johan Hammerth this has become one of the largest Swedish symphonic pieces from our own time. Participating artists: Katarina Dalayman, soprano, Loa Falkman, baritone, Rikard Wolff, narrator. Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra. The Radio Choir. Conductor: Leif Segerstam (label info)
