LORD TANG - LORD TANG (LP)

"The latest solo incarnation of Dominic Cramp (of Gigante Sound, Evangelista, Vulcanus 68 et al) is influenced as much by smoke filled classic dubs from the Golden Age as it is by modern beat wizards and finds its space amongst the future travels of Demdike Stare, King Midas Sound, Harmonic 313 and the like. While bringing similar sensibilities from his other work with Borful Tang and Qulfus - disembodied paranoid ramblings, field recordings and dark electronics - Lord Tang incorporates a heavier and more consistent rhythmic element. There is a strong dub influence but the haunting sound heads much further out than a traditional dub record. The delays hang longer and become their own instrument rather than simply accentuating parts of the whole. Utilizing much of the old crusty outboard gear in his arsenal, Lord Tang has put together an organic melange of clanging organs, sparse crumpled beats and fractured dubs over rolling hills of heavyweight bass."
