"In the year 2000, four female students from Serbia, Austria, Germany and Australia, all in their early twenties, met up at the University for applied arts in Vienna. They decided to set up an experimental music and performance group which they gave the working title of NISTA NIJE NISTA ("nothing is nothing"). Each of the four brought experience in different arts with her, if in dance theatre, exhibitions, installations or performances. The predominant technique which has been employed to provide the album with an overall structure is that of the collage. Field recordings, shreds of saxophone improvisations, noises of indefinable origin and again and again spoken word or sung phrases are merged into tracks, or rather 'sonic objects'. All band members alike have contributed all possible (and impossible) sounds and noises (for example that of a sewing machine) to the mix. The result is a fascinating still of an artistic process perpetually in motion." (label info)
