""deleted scenes", the debut album by Marion Wörle aka Frau W (Laptop) and Maciej Sledziecki (Guitar) uses the vocabulary of sound-art just as instinctively as it does elements from psychedelia, noise and Krautrock. The electronic music of the 90s and 2000s is also bursting through every crack on this record. Refreshingly non-academic and equipped with a fine sense of humor they bring great diversity to the day. No one track compares to any other - each has its own very individual character. The arbitrariness that has unfortunately become so common in contemporary free music is completely missing here. One has much more the feeling of being taken by the hand and guided through an album formed by intelligent, conscious decisions. Dense textures naturally create depth without force. An arrhythmic current of sound happenings suddenly reveals its funny side. And in the end, the the balance of harsh and warm noise holds us in equilibrium. One can never really be sure about the intention of this highly dynamic album. Still PIRX don't exactly take you by surprise either. "deleted scenes" is unpredictable yet at the same time at ease in itself. The album came about while the duo where resident artists at the esteemed STEIM Institute for Electronic Music in Amsterdam. And this even though PIRX use in the main analogue sound objects which are then processed and disassociated before reaching its final state. Maciej Sledziecki uses his guitar as a sound generator and percussion instrument. The structure and timbre if the sounds and rhythms which come out are then treated by Marion Wörle. " (label info)
