16-17 - LIVE AT TAKTLOS FESTIVAL 1995 (LP)

1994, 16-17's first pure studio album Gyatso had become a milestone put in the poorly defined genre of 'industrial noise jazz', a critically acclaimed masterpiece influencing a whole generation of musicians from jazz to drum and bass and far beyond. Gyatso featured the original 16-17 line-up of Alex Buess, Markus Kneubu¨hler and Knut Remond, producer Kevin Martin and guest bassist G. Green from Godflesh. Alex Buess (saxophone, bass clarinet, electronics) consequently continued his path to write new material for the next iteration of the band, He developed a somewhat more controlled sound, introducing elements of songwriting and of classical composition. In Michael Wertmu¨ller (Sprawl, Full Blast, No Home) on drums and Damian Bennett (Khost, Carthage, Deathless) on bass, he eventually found two extremely talented and powerful musicians to complement the work.
