"A Dog Republic got initiated in 2012 by some artists/friends as a collaborative and collective vehicle to create political and poetical demonstrations: recordings, exhibitions, films, manifests, etc within an international network of potential 'dog' friends.This record has been more than 10 years in the making and started when A Dog Republic visited the 55th international art exhibition 'La Biennale di Venezia' where the first 31 'barking conversations' were recorded. Like much other work in all participants' practices, this barking archive expanded over the years as new friends were made, and before we knew it, nobody was speaking their mother tongue anymore!
