BAUDOUIN OOSTERLYNCK & BÉNÉDICTE DAVIN - S/T (LP)

"After being raised on all kinds of classical music, Baudouin Oosterlynck started setting up gigs as a student in the early 70's, for giants double his age, such as John Cage, Mauricio Kagel, Morton Feldman and Karlheinz Stockhausen, at a garage in his then home called 'Oreille Cassée', which also functioned as his first pseudonym. After being completely mindblown by - and even slightly jealous at - a performance of Sylvano Bussoti Oosterlynck got inspired to compose and create his own first recordings In 1975. Baudouin Oosterlynck was very active all over the world with sound sculptures, installations, visual art, publishing books, collecting and redefining silence since. In 1978 he published just one LP, luckily Metaphon published a boxset overseeing his early works, recorded between 1975 and 1978 in 2008 so more folks could his incredible and exceptional music. The two pieces of music we are now publishing were composed in 1977 and 1978. These pieces were first revisited and recreated by vocalist Bénédicte Davin in 2021 during the Pars Pro Toto Festival organised by Silvia Hatzl in Brussels. The recording on this LP was executed live at Tectonics Festival in Glasgow, 4th of May 2025 and recorded by BBC Radio 3. We are proud to present this LP/DL in conjunction with Baudouin Oosterlynck's performance at Ultra Eczema's Sund. Aft at De Kern in Wilrijk, Belgium, 22/03/2026. Comes in a triple fold open sleeve, a silkscreen on the B side and with a download code and the usual UE sticker." (label info)
