HANDS OFF CUBA - FROM ARRIVAL TO SURVIVAL (LP)

"HANDS OFF CUBA was originally hatched as a bedroom electronica project by founding members SCOTT MARTIN and RYAN NORRIS. After releasing a fried, IDM collaboration with LAMBCHOP on Merge records the duo decided to explore a more live approach and recruited friends WILLIAM TYLER and JONATHAN MARX to contribute to the expanding sound. This lineup recorded a self-titled, self-released EP, a twenty-minute epic of rolling ambiance punctuated by a jazz-inflected middle section. On the group's debut full length, From Arrival to Survival, the sounds veer between dark beats, '70s electric jazz, and out-rock of all varieties, equal parts Soft Machine, David Axelrod, and Herbie Hancock's Sextant."
