HEY-O-HANSEN - ABRAXAS (12")

"Completing the Hey-O-Hansen six pack, this last installment sees Múm's Eiríkur Orri pitching in on space trumpet and Dirk von Lowtzow (Tocotronic) with vocals - creating something that sounds not unlike dubstep as viewed through a fairground hall of mirrors... Apparently crafted as an answer to Kode 9's '9 Samurai', 'Abraxas' is a cerebral chunk of wonky-step that features lyrics from Carl Gustav Jungs' 1916 work 'Septem Sermones ad Mortuos' atop rumbling subs and bad-boy beats of the clinical kind. Amongst all this bwopping beats is the same attention to detail and emotional warmth that has made their name. Busy enough to warrant full resolution, the composition never seems cluttered - as the horns weave their magic around Lowtzow's intoned vocals. Joined on the back by 'Abraxas Version', this is a fitting end to a much lauded series." (Boomkat) "a 12inch single with a vocal track and version by hey ø hansen." (label info)
