Johannes Jansson was a relatively unknown composer until 1998, when the release of his CD "The Silver Call" caused something of a sensation. One reviewer found "Something spiritual and timeless about his beautiful and important work," and Lennart Bromander, writing in the newspaper Arbetet, found "An artistic creativity and an uncompromising pursuit of a vision which inspire the utmost respect. In addition, all these compositions contain moments of fresh, pure beauty that are simply captivating." The music often reflects impressions from the poetry and music of India, Johannes Jansson having divided his time between that country and the Österlen region of Skåne in southern Sweden.
