"Norrköping Symphony Orchestra has premiered most of his orchestral works such as one of his most important work Längtans väv (Web of Yearning). This orchestral poem describes Norrköping's former industrial district and its workers. The visual arts have been an important source of inspiration for Franke-Blom's creation throughout his career. The Symphony No. 3 is inspired by paintings by the German artist Anselm Kiefer, who in his art describes the evil in the world, an evil that is nourished by an incessant "fire on earth." Fire on Earth is also the subtitle to Franke-Blom's third symphony, which was commissioned and premiered by the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Tuomas Ollila in 1998."
