"A 2017 album recorded in San Francisco, marking RPY's return to the city. *Hear/Here*-his fifth release on the EM Records label-was recorded in San Francisco, the city where he created his debut album, *Isophonic Boogie Woogie* (1980). Although he moved to New York in the early 1980s and later relocated to Israel in 2013, he returned to his old stomping grounds of San Francisco in 2016; this latest collection of compositions, *Hear/Here*, was produced there. Roland consistently creates work using a compositional method known as "comprovisation" (a blend of composition and improvisation). He excels at hybridizing electronic and acoustic elements, offering a sound that combines the sensibilities of Pharoah Sanders, techno, electronic music, and classical music.
