In short: Not available - that's the name of Stefan's album. And not doing any advertising for him suits him very well, don't you think? We know him as someone for whom refusal, defiance, resistance, punk, is part of the basic political and aesthetic attitude - with all the affability that one knows and appreciates in personal encounters with him. The "against" - against the market and its trends, against the clichés, the soft, conformist - that runs through his entire musical life, whether he DJs or plays live, whether he performs with Graph or just plays his tapes and records. Recently, when you, he and I had our gigs next to Hügelmann, shortly after Brötzmann's death, he told me that Brötzmann's uncompromisingness and radicalism brought him to his music. You can still hear this brutal impulse - I think - on his new album. It's great, musically rich, with a lot of very precise ideas, yet dark and hard like the present.
